Default SCOTUS strikes down “proper need” requirement to carry firearms

This was just released:

https://www.supremecourt.gov/opinion...0-843_7j80.pdf

The conservative majority said it violates due process and the second amendment. I haven’t read the whole opinion yet.

Excellent, no more "undue burdens" on New Yorker's rights to protect themselves.

This is a huge win, especially for those in New York City who wish to protect themselves thanks to Progressive lunacy around bail laws and not punishing criminals!

I see the NY 2nd Amendment case is written by Justice Thomas, which means I expect it to be succinct, principled, and well-reasoned

2A Rights, for the win!!! Do we dare hope that we actually have Constitutional Rights? This is a step in that direction.

So, does this release this morning signal the end of the rulings that will be made public today?

Still no Roe V Wade?

Well technically perhaps, but we never really talked about what we would see from the 2A decision. All the focus and predicting has been on Roe v Wade.

What will NYC do now? What would they do if a person open carries?

As of this Morning - there were 18 cases left. They have decided 49 and there are 13 left to go, beginning tomorrow morning.

More opinions to be released tomorrow morning . SCOTUSblog is your best resource. They release the decisions seconds after they are delivered and explain some of the lineup.

For instance - Opinions are released in reverse order or Seniority. When the Justice Thomas New York gun law opinion was released, that meant that all Justices BELOW Thomas were done for the day. Justice Thomas could release another Opinion OR Justice Roberts could issue an Opinion - but nobody else for this day.

Justices by Seniority

Chief Justice Roberts
Thomas
Alito
Bryer
Kagan
Sotomayor
Gorsuch
Kavanaugh
Barrett
