Did you really just ignore their organic edicts which gutted their crop production costing them billions, implemented countrywide without first vetting the idea?

Yes, there were factors outside their control but not all of it.

An uninformed comment.
China just bought 300 acres so that they could spy on an airbase. They own Smithfield, which means 192,000 acres.
There are 915,000,000 acres of farmland in America. There is no Chinese boogeyman under your bed.

Although Congress has become increasingly concerned about Chinese land purchases, investors from China currently own only a small fraction of this land, at 191,652 acres (0.05 percent of the total).”

Saudi Arabia also has a good amount, mostly in Arizona. Not a good thing for Arizona since what they farm is alfalfa to send to their cattle back home, and alfalfa is a highly water intensive crop.

China did just buy 300 acres in North Dakota which has some concerned regarding national security because it is only 20 minutes from Grand Forks Air Force Base, where they do a lot of high-level drone technology research and is home to a new space networking center which handles sensitive military communications around the world.
