As a gift to paying down 1/250-thousandth of the National Debt?

Like can you imagine if we had that much confidence again in our public trust?
We care about the Federal Govt finances. We want OUR Govt to succeed. We together want to do for HER what we can and hope we can not need to rely on HER but know that our Govt can provide those among us who fall on hard times whose goals like ours shall be to use only the minimum necessary to help us help ourselves on fallen times with goals to regain our independent capabilities and then restore our efforts to serve her so she can remain our safety net

Have we lost the sense this is OUR general fund and when you take from it you are taking from the person next to you?

Should we actually scare people by lowering taxes substantially, then tell people if you are worried then you should donate to IRS what you are able to and assign a person who befriends you and encourages you to be supportive to IRS? Maybe we should make it optional to pay federal taxes and then when people need something missing they will fund it with vigor… nobody will need a forced mandate because they will know this is what will happen if they don’t have public funds. States and local will pick up the tab . One terror attack will scare people to enough defense contributing and one meal poisoned will scare people to recommended per capita contribution to Dept of agriculture

For one … someone would be given a sheet of per capita costs needed per each Govt agency and be allowed to select how much gratuity to each. If a particular Govt function doesn’t get enough then that function will be preserved by those who gave towards it and serve those people as a private service within the Govt but if enough is given to cover the general purpose funding then it would continue as a Federal service

Exactly. It makes no sense to donate money to the Federal Gov't since they can create all the money they need and beyond.

I would skip the middle man and give it to a defense contractor

More than half of the winnings would go to the government as taxes. That is enough of a donation.

I like Earthbound's idea to donate to a children's hospital.

I wouldn't. The Feds and State get enough of my money as it is so why would I or anyone for that fact give them anymore than required?

The Left railed against Trump for cheating on his taxes but a rich man like Trump can hire a team of accountants to take advantage of every loop hole there is. It is not cheating.

How many of our elected pay MORE than they have to? Do the likes of Pelosi and Hillary pay extra from their stock market windfalls?

The problem with "trusting" our Government to spend our tax dollars wisely they have proven that they cannot.

If their hearts are far from fiscal responsibility - and you knew they would blow through the money - and it would be like giving a drunk a ton of money and sending him to the local bar, what good would it do?
