Talk is cheap. Do you want to pay higher taxes to house prisoners in dozens of new prisons?

How many people do you think we would need to hire to work in the new prisons, and at what cost? Do you know people who are eager to work in prisons? Every prison position staffed 24/7 requires five fulltime emp!oyess. Ca-ching. Prison construction must meet constitutional standards, be built for security and safety, often include a medical facility, and a full food service operation. Ca-ching, ca-ching -- Probably $200-300 million per prison, maybe more. Most small towns that want a prison have one by now.
