Current clamoring over fuel prices resulted in petitions for reducing taxes on fuel.
The problem with the plans as they are drawn- who will get the real benefit, who will abuse the system and who will have to sacrafice?
Current plan being pushed is a trickle down economics version. The tax holiday will go to the oil companies, which will allow them to lower prices to whatever degree they see fit (not neccessarily our full rebate getting to our pockets).
Why isn't a tax holiday plan proposed by states to simply give us the holiday directly to consumers at the pump?
Taxes on gas are generated from the PRICE of fuel, not the quantity we are purchasing, which has been the problem in design.
