"The newly remade board of trustees at New College of Florida voted Monday to give the Sarasota school’s interim President Richard Corcoran a pay bump of nearly $400,000 over his predecessor."
Corcoran is a former Florida Speaker of the House. To no one's surprise in Florida, DeSantis has made New College into another element of his massive state government patronage machine. Corcoran is unqualified to lead a university but no Republican will dare speak against against him as he is part of the massively corrupt Florida Republican machine. DeSantis is not actually interested in public policy and his only goal is to ensure that his cronies and donors are in control of every lever of Florida state government and control all the patronage and cronyism. There is a reason Florida has held on so tightly to Republican state control despite all the close elections and that is because the Florida Republican Party would die if they no longer had access to the state appointment gravy train and funding from all the real estate, construction, hospitality, and agricultural establishment players.

That's exactly how it was before DeSantis stepped in.
College students are adults. They go to war for us. As an adult would you want government interfering into your life and deciding what you can learn and can’t learn. Or would you be opposed to this kind of government interference if it affected you personally
Is going after public colleges, and outlawing programs and curricula in that state necessarily a good thing? What happens when, as a result, professors and students decide to not go to a University of Florida, Florida State.....or The U?
Remember Arizona, which had decided to vote against the King Holiday. Lost a Super Bowl, as a result.
Even if one thinks these actions drive away so-called liberals, the possible overall negative rep, down tick in school rankings and economic impact of people staying away from Florida schools would be immense.
Are the people of Florida prepared for those consequences?

"College students are adults."
Have you ever been to frat or sorority party? Beach week, or practically ANY party, etc. I could go on and on.
Car insurance companies certainly DON'T believe as you do, which is why their rates are higher.
