LOL...you can't fire a sheriff, this is hilarious. I was looking at a map earlier most of the county sheriffs have said they WON'T enforce the illegal law. Good for them!

Don't be so sure about not being able to fire a sheriff. It's all up to the state's constitution. Governor DeSantis was able to fire the elected Broward County Sheriff in Florida a few years back and the Florida Supreme Court upheld the firing: https://floridaphoenix.com/blog/fl-s...oward-sheriff/

New York's constitution also gives its governor the authority to remove elected officials from office under certain circumstances, and Hochul gave lip service to doing for Manhattan's elected district attorney: https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/poli...eport/3518446/ https://nypost.com/2022/02/01/gov-ka...-crime-stance/

A lot will come down to the Illinois state constitution. I've read that it does not give the governor of Illinois similar powers as the Florida governor has, but haven't actually seen the document myself to know for sure.

Every state is different. You're going to need to back that statement up with a statute.

Sheriffs are elected in Illinois. Can't fire them. He might try to illegally remove them.

Those Sheriffs are true patriots, upholding their oaths to the Constitution, but that means nothing to today's Democrats.

I would ask if he is willing to fire every law enforcement officer in the state, but he's a democrat, so that's a yes.
