I read this blog by James Howard Kunstler today and it summarizes how I am feeling about the Republican Party and the sorry state of our country. I’ve seen other post here that the Republicans must be in on the destruction of this country because they do nothing about it. Seems like they are. Obviously they do not represent us.

I can’t paste the direct link because it contains the F word but the link below takes you to the blog. It’s the first one listed “Party Party”

https://kunstler.com

Snip

“ If you are shocked and bewildered that totalitarian tyranny creeps through our country without opposition, the reason is simple: there is no official opposition. The capture of government looks nearly complete by a party that lusts to punish its citizens for the pleasure of watching them suffer, while it steals everything they’ve worked for and forecloses their future. At least half the country objects to this. Where is a party that stands for them?”

Thoughts?

Dead. That's why Trump took over so easily, Republican party has been have an identity crisis and been in shambles for decades. Not a whole lot of love from a lot of quarters for the Democrats either, just any port in a storm really.

The Republican party has been required to walk in lock step with one man since 2016 or risk being shamed and people being told not to vote for the RINO traitor. The GOP HAS no identity anymore. Whatever one man says, goes. So of course they're afraid to make a move in any direction. The need to make sure first that Donald Christ will approve it, then they tiptoe into line -- or risk the entire party, and probably voters, turning on them.

But Benedict Donald is unpredictable and changes his mind. He turns on people on a dime. Do you really expect any unified movement to make changes under such circumstances? If so you're going to be waiting a long time.

It's why I'm not registered with any party.

I made a lengthy NFL comparison post a few days ago.

Dems, repubs, both work for the wealthy elites, different jerseys working for the same owners.

They've been glitching a lot longer than Mitch McConnell. Also missing in action. The democrats have been able to inflict a great deal of damage upon this country because there is no "other side". It's a 2 sided coin, and neither one is worth a damn these days. At the very least, it feels like the nation is run by a "uniparty".

If you lean right, jim jordan and ted cruz make a lot of noise you may agree with, but nothing changes.

No one from either party challenges all of the actual power centers in this country, not really.

US Chamber of Commerce and the wealthy elites who stand/hide behind it.

The Dems are merely the face of the destruction. Republican elites are looking the other way.

Citizen United was the last nail in the coffin.

The conservative movement is dead in america.. even if trump wins in 2024 he cannot reverse the progressive trend in 4 years. The fact that Ronna McDaniel Romney is the GOP chair says all you need to know about the state of the republican party. The DNC has played the long game like a fiddle infesting and taking control of almost ever institution of power in the nation. Any government agency that is supposed to be a-political you can guarantee is bought the woke BS hook line and sinker. The DOJ, the military and all branches of federal law enforcement, the IRS, the Media, all education institutions of higher learning.

The last remaining things they are coming for are your home equity, your kids, and your roth ira / 401k balances in the name of equity.

Repubs hapless w/o Trump.

Those dolts cried about obamacare for 7 years, when they had their chance they blewit! Thta is when the dems started to take control.

The rpubs betrayed Trump and the party, such as it is.

We have seen the repub swamp creatures raise their head above the much to expose themselves as Trump haters. Why> because Trump was the only one who came close to actually draining the swamp/profiteers honey hole.

Trump is the repub party, not the bystanders elected to office.
