The policy seems to be in the public interest. Tuberville getting his way would have cost the military more in the long run. Less spending anywhere is a plus right now.
I thought we were beyond the "It's cheaper to abort a baby than to have a baby so the tax payers should be happy abortions are allowed." But guess not.

That one one senator could bring an entire process to a halt speaks volumes of how Congress works nowadays. Not even in UK or elsewhere with parliamentary governments would such a thing have happened and or been allowed to last long as Tuberville got away with it.

Then there is the cost in readiness.
One solution would be to shift all soldiers to military bases in states that protect a woman's right to make her own decisions about her own body.
