Anyone paying attention knows that the 'surge' began with him telling them to surge the border. The caravans ramped up when he'd told them to surge while he was campaigning and continued while he was president-elect in hopes that he would let them in. Just a couple of many examples:

They certainly did listen when he'd told them to come. When he'd feebly told them to stop, they know lip service when they hear it.

He didn't immediately have a secure border, nope. But after covid and the remain in MX policy in place he had the closest thing to a secure border that one could have ...without a wall, etc.

This is actually a good thing. DeSantis needs to stay in Florida and continue fighting off the powers of darkness. He's a whole lot more useful there than being crucified as president. Florida is one of the few states that have a chance at holding off the darkness. He needs to concentrate on that. The nation is pretty much shot on the whole; it's all about the states.
He won over moderates in Florida and that says a lot about how well he would do as President. I love hearing about how Trump voters are concerned about his electability on channels like NewsMax, but they will support him because they "love him."
DeSantis's brand of politics were never going to sell on the national stage, he can stop these campaign stunts like book bans, LGBTQ laws and fights with Disney.

Since when is choosing one candidate over another "backstabbing"? It makes it sound like they owed Trump loyalty.
