But it wasn’t just last year’s cuts that made Medicare Advantage look vastly less appealing than traditional pricey – and insolvency-risking – Medicare. CMS also eliminated 2,000 diagnosis codes, which meant less coverage for seniors in Medicare Advantage plans than conventional Medicare fee-for-service.
CMS also instituted an absurd 48-hour mandatory waiting period for seniors hoping to chat with agents or brokers to discuss insurance options.

Now we have to wait and see if CMS bureaucrats try to make Medicare Advantage even less attractive again this year through additional cuts and more confusing rules.

We won't use Advantage, but LOTS of people do. Let's pick on Medicare entitlements again (Of course, Medicare and Social Security are not entitlements because we paid in all our lives)

Medicare Advantage needs to be cut. It costs more per insured than traditional Medicare, and provides less service. The only population helped by Medicare Advantage is insurance companies that collect the money from Medicare, then put the screws to their insured to make a profit.

Medicare and SS are both insolvent, they are paying out more than the revenue coming in, do you have a solution?

Raise FICA taxes. Modify SS to go back to the original intent...retired people and their non-working spouses.

Letting the 2 programs go broke will just push some into the welfare programs...they never go broke.

A welfare state can't exist unless the government gets lots and lots of money.

As a health care worker Advantage plans are awful. You’re great until you get sick, just don’t get sick. People with new strokes getting cut from rehab in 2-3 weeks vs up to 100 days with traditional Medicare. They couldn’t care less if you were living alone independently and now you can’t walk.

And those television commercials are so misleading I think they should be illegal.

A waiting period before you can be fleeced by an insurance company? It probably wont work, but anything they can do to get people to stay off of these medicare advantage programs is a good thing. Medicare advantage is nothing but the same old terrible US health insurance system that you had when you were working. A for profit insurance company is making all the decisions about what you can and can't have.

Unfortunately once someone is fooled into taking an advantage plan there is no easy path back to regular medicare/supplement plans. That should be changed. But the insurers have far more political clout than seniors so it will not come soon if ever.

Medicare is run by the government. Blame them, not the insurers.

The government really has no choice. Costs are rising quicker than the premiums and co-pays.
You see it yourself with your own insurance ...premiums jumped pretty high for car/home insurance.

Medical care is not nationalized....only insurance.
FICA has been frozen for how many decades now ?

Government programs are getting priced out because the costs have been increasing every year while FiCA has been frozen and premiums are restricted in how much they can rise.

Health insurance is not health care. The cost care given by doctors/hospitals is not under control by the government.

The advantage plans are run by private insurance companies.
