President Biden says that it is great for our economy to fund Ukraine's War. This is not true.

https://mises.org/power-market/smedl...ention-ukraine

#1 It is morally wrong to force Americans to fund a death trap half way around the world.

#2 The auditing has been poor, we do not know where all of the weapons have wound up. Some in Africa claim that US weapons to Ukraine have ended up in terrorist hands that destabilize Africa.

#3 What is the strategic value for normal Americans? We take on the risk of more debt and the longer it goes on the more there is a chance things spiral out of control with a nuclear power. The benefit is supposedly that Russia might attack NATO next so we have to be willing to fight Russia before it attacks our allies? Whether or not Russian ethnic parts of Ukraine that had been in a civil war for years are in Russia or not does not impact US citizens and tax payers.

#4 War is not good for the economy. The US government spends money on Ukraine that could have been spent on education, health care, or other more productive means. To take from productive citizens to send to fund death and destruction is not a wise investment.

#5 We are also helping to fund one side in the Syrian War, Israel's War against Gaza, Taiwan's defense against China, South Korea's defense against North Korea, Europe's defense against Russia....where does it end?

Maybe I am naive, but I see stopping Putin on someone else's soil a good investment. Now space exploration is another story....

Even if it were demonstrably true, how can this evil vegetable justify the hundreds of thousands of deaths?

What about Iraq? It was argued that that war would help the US economy.

War is extremely efficient from an economic perspective. It costs a ton to make the crap, and it has no residual value.

You've obviously never heard of the MIC (Miltary Industrial Complex), to which Biden and the Democrats are beholden. Most US wars have been under Democrat presidents. Likewise, the most US Troops casualties have been under Democrat presidents.

If you're a war pig, you vote Democrat. They LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the MIC.

Great points OP.

The problem today is that we do not have the stomach for an actual war but instead favor a Police action.

I can't help but think about the 13 US soldiers that were killed during the debacle that was the pullout from Afghanistan. An overwatch sniper saw the suicide vest guy coming in and he had to get approval to shoot him. It came too late and many people were murdered as a result. Our people never should have been in that position but the "war" had become political.

Biden has suggested that the US build a temporary port to bring aide to Palestine. How much is that going to cost us? It is estimated that we will have 200 people there working on the build and what happens when some idiot Terrorist shoots our people?

Trump had/has the right idea. He wants to MAGA and let the world sort it self out.

Biden is wrong about everything, not just this.

I'm conflicted regarding how I feel about supporting Ukraine. I do believe left unchecked Putin will go farther. But stick to that kind of reasoning. Saying that it helps our economy is circular and nonsensical. The American taxpayers are paying for the munitions we are providing. We could instead use those funds to improve childcare alternatives, transportation infrastructure, etc. which, like building munitions, would also create jobs but also help eliminate barriers for more participation in our economy, unlike the production of munitions.
