I agree with this article 100%. If we had the guts to impose a floor price of $4 a gallon back in the 90s - as Europe did- we would still be paying $4 for it but the money would be staying here and not going to the Arabs.

And we would have not have so many SUVs, Gigantic RVs, and McMansions built hours away from where people work.

I agree. And that would have been good policy too.

It is still good policy, but it will just hurt more.

That Lyndon LaRouche was right! We could be riding Maglev right now. Too bad he had a funny name.

Which one- Lyndon or LaRouche? We had a President named Lyndon once. And, while I don't know anybody named LaRouche, I suspect people in France probably do. I do know LaBouche and I really like their music although they are dead now.

Lyndon LaRouche is an narcisistic communist windbag who is convinced of his own brilliance and will let anyone who will listen know about it. He is a paranoid conspiracy theorist snake oil salesman who has jumped back and forth between advocating communist ideals to advocating anti-communist ideals, whichever one will get him more attention and money at the time. In addition to running for president several times, he has also been arrested and imprisoned for tax evasion and mail fraud, although he claims that it was all the result of a government witch hunt.
Be very wary of anyone who says that Lyndon LaRouche was right about anything.

Please don't get me wrong, I am not a LaRouche supporter. I was making the point that LaRouche advocated the Maglev Trains way back in the early 90's and he was spot on.

I'm not saying that you were. And I should adjust my statement to be careful of anyone who says that LaRouche is right about anything. Fact is that he does have some decent ideas. However, his extreme paranoia, among many other things, puts him in wacko nutjob territory as far as I'm concerned.
