My ethnic make-up is 1/4 Mexican, 1/4 Native(Modoc Klamath Tribe) and 1/2 Louisiana French Creole. Saying that I'm black just saves time and trouble. Since moving to Texas , I've been mistaken for White, Mexican, Hawaiian, Arab and then the most often asked "What are you?...Race I mean". Usually I'll wait until someone makes an off color joke or remark and then claim to be the race the person seems to have a problem with. The one drop rule...I dont know, I have a lot of drops.
The skin, regardless of color, is just a covering for one's soul. It's our soul each of us need to be concerned with, just my opinion.
