You chose to live in the suburbs. I bought my house 20 years ago when oil prices were low. I guess we "liberal elitist" do well because we think things out in advance. You "Joe Six Packs" make poor decisions and then blame the people who make better decisions than you.
You can certainly live someplace where you use far less fossil fuel than you do today. In fact I'd suggest that Adam Smith's invisible hand will force you to do so, whining all the way.

'Joe Six Pack' is often a derogatory phrase for a blue collar worker who is lazy and just goes home and opens up his six pack of beer. People tend to stereotype all blue collar and poor people into the 'Joe Six Pack' stereotype when it is often untrue.
I have not driven less... I haven't cut back on my spending either... Oh wait, I have been living within my means the whole entire time... I might have to cut back if the liberals start demanding I pay more taxes so they can spend more... imagine that...
