As usual, President Bush is being greeted by crowds upset that he is in China & not supporting action to hold China accountable for human rights violations. Poor George, he seems to make the wrong decisions right to the very end.

Yeah? So?

The POTUS SHOULD be, and is, going to the opening ceremonies -

Demonstrations in that part of the world are a normal, daily, occurrence

As Bush arrived on Tuesday evening, 30,000 people held an outdoor Christian prayer service to support him. His motorcade sped by pockets of people smiling and waving U.S. flags his way.

Later, an estimated 20,000 anti-Bush protesters gathered downtown. Riot police blasted them with water cannons as they tried to march onto the main boulevard. Police warned the crowd that the liquid contained markers to tag them so they could be identified later.

Seems a little ironic; he isn't especially Christian. Nothing like most of the Christians I've known, anyway.

So if the world is so up in arms about China's human rights violations, then why did the Olyimpic Commity pick China for the summer games? Why is it always only the US held accountable?

We are hypocrits to say on one hand that China is the worst of the worst when it comes to human rights, while we continue to live on their money, clothe ourselves in their garments and play with their toys. Even our best Fourth of July, Independence Day, celebrations are marked, made in China. We sold our souls to open the market place for capitalism, now we have to stand by and watch as they become the leader of the not so free world.

Sadly, you are correct

The demonstrations in South Korea against President Bush had absolutely nothing to do with his going to China and human rights. They were protesting against the resumption of beef imports from the United States, which had been largely suspended since 2003 when "Mad Cow" disease was found in some cattle in the United States. They were also protesting against their own President, Lee Myung-Bak, who approved the deal to let American beef back in.
