With all due respect, that 6-year old would be far more likely to be carrying a rock, and his or her motivations for wanting to throw that rock at a tank would be quite likely to include the loss of not just one, but multiple family members to an over-the-top brutality that has become far too typical of the actions of one side in this conflict. Statistically, of course, that child does face a highly elevated risk of being shot dead on the spot by IDF forces. Rock against tank. It would be a clear matter of self-defense...
And a lot of those rocks have been thrown at civilians, and a lot of folks have had permanent physical harm due to those rocks. The conflict is much, much, much more than rock against tank.
As you and I have agreed to in past threads, Arafat should have taken the agreement previously negotiated with Israel. At this time, young Palestinians should be focused upon increasing their academic and professional achievements, vs improving their rock throwing techniques.

Certainly true, but rock-versus-tank does, in a short space, represent with some degree of accuracy the balance of power, and the balance of casualties, in this conflict.

Correct...I think the Palestinians would have been better served by Arafat's taking what was on the table in 2000, and working from there. I certainly don't think he let the perfect become the enemy of the good, but he likely did let the good become the enemy of the good enough for now.

That is simply not going to happen in an environment where Israel continues to operate as an oppressor and provocateur. On its own, Israel may not be able to back away from the posture it has put itself in. Someone else is going to have to enter the stage and play the role of catalyst, facilitator, and perhaps behind-the-scenes arm-twister. It certainly isn't going to be Bush, but the next President and his team had better have the necessary mettle for it...
I'll do that right now in the role of Teacher. A run-on sentence is one that includes two or more independent clauses while lacking a conjunction and/or appropriate punctuational splicing.
This is a run-on sentence... It was hot today since I didn't go outside I didn't care.
This is not... It was hot today, but since I didn't go outside, I didn't care.
Your right, it looks like it was more of a Comma Splice than a run-on ....
