Or an even more realistic poll:
What will it take to make Europe clean up its own mess, police their own back yard and actually pay for it all without sucking the USA in to their problems?

Russia came out in full support of Abkhazia and South Ossetia as independent states, much like Kosovo or Serbia or even Andorra.

Should we the bringers of global democracy deny that the states of South Ossetia and Abkjazia their independence? Or is this simply a case where the US has "selective democracy syndrome"?

No I think we should mind our own business and let them sort it out for themselves.

I think Serbia lost its right to Kosovo when they were "cleansing" the population.

Perhaps we could say the same thing of Mikhail Saakashvili's attempt to "cleanse" South Ossetia of dissidents.

On the night of Thursday, Aug. 7, forces of the Republic of Georgia drove across
the border of South Ossetia, a secessionist region of Georgia that has
functioned as an independent entity since the fall of the Soviet Union. The
forces drove on to the capital, Tskhinvali, which is close to the border.
Georgian forces got bogged down while trying to take the city. In spite of heavy
fighting, they never fully secured the city, nor the rest of South Ossetia.

Afghanistan.
Iraq.
Somalia, where we tried but gave up when we found that a brave soldier might get hurt.
Lebanon, same thing.
Iran, under palpable threat.
Syria, temporarily and inexplicably removed from the palpable threat list.
Palestine, handed over to the Israelis for 'rendering'.

Now, can you give me an example of Russia taking over a former Soviet republic?

Thank you.

I know now that you cannot be taken seriously.

Iraq was never annexed. Somalia was a humanitarian mission involving the UN and a bunch of other countries.

Lebanon was somewhat of a peacekeeping mission and not an invasion.

Iran has not been touched and neither has Syria.

Palestine has not been touched by the US and the whole Palestine-Israel thing is a rather complicated issue. And if you play the "Israel treat Palestinians like garbage" card, I can bring up how many Palestinians the Jordanians deliberately killed (Hint: It is more than Israel has in its entire history) in the few years the West Bank was in the loving care of their Arab brothers.

How come I get to answer questions and get insulted for doing so, but you don't have to answer any?

Now, can you give me an example of Russia taking over a former Soviet republic?

Specirically, annexed, which is your minimum criterion.
