Well, bound to happen when all the educated white folk's think procreating is a bad thing!
I welcome diversity, but I do have a problem with absentee parents that don't care which minority cultures seem to have difficulty with. I know that many neighborhoods in Chicago that have some issues with crime and minorities.
As a teacher candidate this little article reminds me that I had better get on the ESL bandwagon and sharpen up my Spanish skills. Good thing I've had a few years of learning.
thank god. maybe these minorities can enjoy a higher economic status and would actually appreciate it, whereas white people take it for granted and **** all over there yuppie suburban lives.
Fact is most minorities only exist in their own minds these days. We are all Americans regardless of color or race & the biggest stumbling block to real equality are special interest groups that need to maintain the public opinion that their group is being persecuted.
FWIW, the percentage of Americans who self-identify as "white" (regardless of ethnicity) will barely change (80% to 76%). Also keep in mind, the definition of white is not constant. Back in the 1800s, a lot of Anglos did not consider the Irish, Italians, or Jews coming off the boats as "white". They integrated and so will the vast majority of today immigrants. Fifty years from now, Jimenez and Chang will be no more exotic than Smith, O'Leary, Perino, or Cohen.
So what. I've actually spent almost my entire life as a Caucasian living in parts of the US where I was a minority (Chicago, and Chicago's south-suburbs), it has never been a a problem for me. I'm not particularly concerned about this 'issue' in any way whatsoever.
ManheimMadman - I do understand your concern, but there are larger, more historic, issues with Chicago neighborhoods that lead to crime that are based mostly in economics.
