So the GOP is proposing to bail out Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to the tune of trillions of dollars, which will of course come out of your and my tax dollars. This is a similar trend of the GOP controlled government, which recently bailed out the investment banks on Wall Street.

Meanwhile, the CREEPS that got these companies into this mess take home their $13 million dollar pay checks and stock options (why are the GOP not prosecuting these thieves???).

Is this straight up socialism or if not, what is this?

If I would have known that I could buy a house, have it foreclosed upon because I purchased outside of my means and the government was going to help bail me out......I would have gone for this in Hawaii:

The greedy mortgage companies themselves will be bailed out. What are the details of the citizen bail-out you refer to? As far as I know, Americans will generally not be the direct beneficiaries of these corporate bail-outs.

Meanwhile, the corrupt guys who caused their companies to collapse live off of the millions they earned at these companies while running them into the ground.

I'm just lovin the GOP tax (meaning taxing our kids since everything is done on credit so the GOP can PRETEND they are cutting taxes) and spenders!

Hate to burst your bubble, but this started way before the GOP took over the White House.. Clinton, among others are also responsible for increasing Mae/Mac, giving them special deals that made it impossible for private banks to compete. It became a deal or sink relationship with the federal government. The individuals involved were not "thieves".. they were individuals who followed the guidelines put into place by the federal reserve, and the government.

I'm not convinced that this whole thing is to be blamed on the GOP. There are plenty of folks from all over the board who are responsible for this mess.

Our elected leaders failed us, it does not do any good to place blame on a party.

Do you know anyone who has ever stayed in a place like that or is it out of your league?

My thoughts exactly! Seems the GOP loves to talk vile against anyone who believes in government helping out when it comes to handouts and bailouts, but when push comes to shove, especially for a corporation........
I believe that socialism is better than the on your own mentality in most cases, since it involves teamwork. However, this is just hypocriscy again on the GOP's part.

Plenty, however that is not the point.

The point is that this issue with the bail out is more than just the GOPs fault.

Actually these mortgage companies "COOKED THE BOOKS" and hid debt, so yes, the men who ran these companies are very much to blame for their greedy conduct. They had stock options so it made perfect sense for them to hide the company's debt and inflate the value of the options they held.

At any rate, this is a WONDERFUL argument for more, rather than less, regulation to protect the American taxpayer.
