Pretty desperate. How does claiming that white liberals vote blacks into some of the highest positions in the land support the thesis that liberals tolerate blacks only so long as they "know their place"? As for dating, go back to Loving v. Virginia and wind the matter of inter-racial marriage forward. Who do you find there? The landscape is dotted with liberals with a few courageous conservatives found here and there.

Moreso lately, as liberals and liberal values have permeated the south. But this matter hardly goes to the original point either.

Wow! That's basically, "The world's a harsh place, everybody's out to kill 'ya, they'll take what you've got, get yours first, just leave me alone, etc.".

No offense, and not trying to defend unrealistic "airheads" either, but it's sounding like being a Conservative is actually kinda depressing! I mean, where's the joy, where's the fun? Or is it the core outlook of Conservatives that life is just one long battle against a basically hostile world, and then you die...?

How about if you love something (America) why is your whole campaign about changing it? If forcing everyone to feel the same way you do about things is "fun"....you can have it.

Default I am a right winger

I believe in less government. Marriage is not suppose to be the governments business if gays want to marry fine the Federal government and state gov has no business in it at all include straight marriage. We dont need people in washington telling people their rights and lobbying for moral or unmoral laws. I believe in protecting our borders and defending our country but only engaging countries who threaten or attack us directly. We should say out of other countries affairs. All troops should be stationed at home not around the world. Drugs should be legal and so should guns. If you break the law with the use of guns and what you do on drugs should higher penalities. Putting responsiblity on the individual for the freedoms they have. I Question Authority most of the time. WE should remove the income tax and the Federal Reserve should be removed and placed back in the hands of the congress. Our dollar should be backed by gold. Security should not cost us our freedom. I'm against all forms of RFID chips and national id cards. I do believe abortion to be murder based on the science def. that life begins at conception. All taxes should be low and government should reduce it's over all size and stop limiting the freedom and liberty of most americans. I'm against NAFTA, CAFTA, The UN and the WTO. All corporate and business campaign funds should be removed and against the law. AS a business you are not a individual nor does a corporation have rights as a PERSON. Corporations should receive no special benefits and should also not be abused as well being that government should not have the power to enforce. Laws should be just and fair against all business and individual persons can sue and corruption in the courts must be taken seriously. 4th branches of the government can not have limitless power and no oversight. 4th branches of government can not set rules and regulations on businesses and property with out review and subject hearings in the court of law when dealing with property and land.

In closing I dont trust government and no free loving person should. The power over your income, your life and family should not be decided or heavy influnced by a few in washington. I believe in the constitution and following the advise of the founders and the history of the world on empires, liberty and how bigger government leads to tryanny.

This may be an old thread but the issue is still relevant. Not all right-wingers think alike. They mostly don't like Obama, sometimes accusing him of being a socialist (these days a term about as complimentary as child molester), call for "less government", no gun control, and lower taxes. But the similarities end there. Some want to secure the borders, others want looser immigration. Some want abortion outlawed, others want to keep the government from restricting it. Some want to legalize cannabis, others want all-out enforcement of laws against it.

I think those on the right believe from their spirit and their life.
Many on the left believe because of what they have read in a book or told by some college professor, who learned from a book also.

I'd be happy to answer your, assuming, perhaps naively, you are interested in an answer.

Right Wingers, as you so affectionately call us, are interested in preserving Freedom, Liberty, the Constitution, Rule of Law, American Exceptionalism, and certain level of decency. We are interested in preserving the real things, not fakes, not substitutes, not delusional pipe dreams or con jobs. We also believe in preserving certain virtuous institutions, like hard work, earning one's way through life (instead of being a parasite on the body politic). We know America is the greatest cause for good in the world, and believe in preserving that status. We are motivated by the above, and fighing off the dogs and jackals that oppose those ideals and institutions.

That, in a nutshell, is what Motivates us.

But sometimes we all come across a certain type of individual who is extremely "passionate" about their opinions and beliefs. We often see them in the letters to the editor, or online in the "blogosphere", or in forums like this. And they're usually pretty easy to identify, often "shouting" with lot's of ALL CAPS, or BOLD LETTERING, along with plenty of exclamation marks!!!!!!!!!

In addition, there's often a certain "chip on the shoulder" combativeness, oversensitivity to critcism, and the use of rhetorical weapons, like broad labels and ad hominem attacks (Liberals = Communists), 'over-the-top' accusations ("Obama is a Terrorist!"), or straw man arguments ("Why do Democrats hate America?", etc.).

Now there may be some folks of the "liberal" persuasion who meet that description. But seems to me that this is largely a Conservative, Right Wing phenomenon. They're also referred to as "the Base", or disparagingly as the "Wingnuts", the folks who don't just vote for the Party or the Candidate, they're ideologically driven and act as soldiers in the front line of politics.

So if you agree with that so far, what do you think motivates all this extreme passion and intensity? There are some opinions that these are basically Narcissists who obtain Narcissistic Supply (ego validation) from their writings and the reactions. Others have suggested that it's basically an Authoritarian personality type. Or like the Taliban, and certain other fundamentalist groups, are they simply rebelling against the modern world?

And also, are the days of the Right Wing as influential "King-makers" finally ending....?
Are you Serious?!? Can you hear yourself talk? I'm going to have to defer my judgment for yours because you are clearly an expert.

I find that many right wingers are boring, paranoid, and insecure. Some have a deep rooted need to control others, and sit in the power seat being waited on by "lesser" beings because they have the "skinny" on what is best for the masses. JMO

IMHO, most right-wingers seem to be motivated by the illusion that things were "better" in their youth and their personal failings are not their own faults but the work of people that they personally dislike (minorities, women, gays, etc)

Listen to any right-wing radio show or TV talk program: Do you here many ideas or solutions? Or do you hear a constant stream of complaints and ridicule?

The right-wing in this has few original ideas and doesn't seem to be able to deal w/ the fact that the country has moved beyond what they imagined it to be in their youth.
