Ok, now its time to ask the question in the back of everyones head -will the market continue to tank next week?
My prediction, at the end of next week down another 400, with multiple inter-day swings of 800 pts or more.

Naw, I think this week will be fairly tame, and see some gains. They gotta make some $$ this week, and then drop it on our heads NEXT week. Up 5-10% this week, down 20% by close on 10/24

It's not as bad as I feared.... so far. Down 256.7 as of 12:08pm EST doesn't seem to out of line.

Now what happens during the last hour of trading.... that is the scary part, I have seen it swing huge amounts in the last hour this month.

Default Where do you think the DOW will bottom out at?

Will all the volatility in the market these days and major swings up and down as well as talk about further declining home prices, where do you think the DOW will bottom out at?

That is pretty grim there...

Although I wouldn't be surprised to see an advertising banner draped across the Capitol building that reads, "Going out of business sale, deals up to 90% off!"

You mean "Capitol Building"?!

If so, that's funny....

Tried to buy some stock that i've had my eye on for awhile now but according to my 401k plan and the representative that i talked to, i'm not allowed to purchase anything [stock specifically] under a dollar. So much for capitalism and the free market in all its glory.

Yup, Capitol* my bad.

One would think this would actually be a good time to buy stocks, I mean it isn't like the DOW won't reach 14000 again after some time.

I hear in the background that apparently currency markets are nuts today.

I'm far from any kind of economic guru, but I am curious how this will eventually translate into day to day living. I realize that the market is a precursor to the economic realities of joe citizen, so I am wondering when this thing will bottom in order to get an idea of a time frame until things improve.

I think, and I hope I am wrong, we will see the DOW continue to fall, especially after the election. I would'nt doubt it goes as low as 5 or 6 thousand.
