There's also no way to enforce it. Would a person have to prove their sexuality in order to post? I'm not all about posting on gay threads, but it just seems wrong to exclude anyone on C-D.
Right ...right, I'm not for that either. It wasn't excluding anyone from the conversation that the thread starter was all about, it was more to do with banning the topic in this forum. There are better things to talk about. It would save the folks that don't want to talk about it from being in their face all the time.

This poll is hereby closed by the threadstarter.
The straights have it 30 to 24.
Since it is not yet official that the forum eletists are giving you your own forum.
I expect you to voluntarily refrain from any thread titles that mention the words gay, happy or merry.
Unless of course you are speaking of dwarves or Christmas.
Go over and bug the garden people.
You could procreate chinese cabbage togather or something.
Thank you for your attendance.
Straight & gay people alike thank you for your votes.
I hope you all understand the sacrifice I have made in my rep point to post ratio.
It is going to be a long road back to respectability.
I now have to devote my undivided attention to defeating socialism in our time.
Sincerely, to the straights
To the gays, -not so much.
Schtyk
P.S. "Walk softly and carry a big...you got it.

I think there should be an LGBT forum, not in these political forums but on City Data. Gay rights has a lot of news worth discussing these days and there are many gay issues I think a forum would be suited well for.

Since you're only addressing all of this to "the gays," do you mind if I (a straight woman) start a few gay threads? Unfortunately for you, it's not only gay people who care about these issues... so they aren't going away that easily!

Thank you, gizmo.

Considering that about half - maybe more than half - of the gay-themed threads are started by conservatives, I'm not sure why he thinks that it's only "the gays" who are interested in discussing gay-related topics.

Let me preface this post by saying that I support the rights of ALL (not just gays) and that you can track back and find I have NEVER bashed gays in any way, shape form or fashion....That being said,I too am one of the ones who think LGBT folks need their own sub forum.I personally do not see why anyone from either "side"(?) of the issue would be opposed to that.It has gotten to be where more than 50% of the threads are dealing with it and if the conservatives are the ones posting the majority of the threads ,then let them come to you.Immigration has it's own sub forum and it seems to be doing fine with views from both sides being shared freely. As it is now it seems as if LGBT people are drawing heat from people who normally would not be opposed to them because they feel as if the issue is being thrown in their face constantly and being pushed rather than discussed and debated.Just my opinion and it's worth what you paid for it.

well schtyk it seems that the people who are obsessed with gays happen to be straight City Data forumers. The last place gays come to for advice regarding gay issues is CD.
