what about the times that our government has gone to other countries to "police" them? We are the foreigners in those cases. Shouldn't we mind our own business?
I'm only starting this thread because I see so much hatred posted in these forums. So many posters call the "latino" community just plain illegals when not every hispanic person in this country came here illegaly.
The hatred doesn't stop there (it just hits close to home since I am hispanic) though. The racism towards black people is more underlined as nobody will come right out and say that they hate black people but they will post "nostalgic" threads harking back to a time when neighborhoods known for their crime were "good" largely due in part to segregation.
Don't even get me started on the anti muslim, anti jewish or anti anything that isn't christianity threads. But I guess that's the beauty of the internet. Anonimity gives us all the courage that we don't have in the street any more but then again, so do white hoods and robes.

Every migrant group deals with racism/hate. Its almost like being "hazed" into the country. Its not right at but even European groups dealed with hate upon arrival after leaving their sub-par life at home in hopes of a better life. Their sacrifice makes it easier for future generations.

It's happened with every immigrant group that ever came here. You want a history of immigrant discrimination? Look up the Irish, starting with their major migration to America in the late 1840s. The Chinese from the 1870s. Jews after 1910. Blacks from the day the first slave ship landed in Virginia. Etc.

Well that is no excuse to give hate to new immigrants to our country. After all it is about 2009.

I do agree though. What is the point of this thread? I don't see much racism here. There are your few racist posters, but I never noticed them on the general forum, they mostley where big Sarah Palin supporters in the Political forum back in the elections.

I know the history of the discrimination against immigrants in this country. Believe me, I'm glad that it's not like it was when the Chinese immigrated here for the first time (gunslingers would kill them just to improve their aim) but it's just disheartening to be on the L.A. posts where someone is asking about a good place to live and then have trolls come in and post crap like, "go ahead and live there if you want to be surrounded by illegals". The reason of this thread was just to vent.
