Here is an interesting link...

"Imagine there's an elderly widow down the street from you. She has neither the strength to mow her lawn nor enough money to hire someone to do it. Here's my question to you that I'm almost afraid for the answer: Would you support a government mandate that forces one of your neighbors to mow the lady's lawn each week? If he failed to follow the government orders, would you approve of some kind of punishment ranging from house arrest and fines to imprisonment? I'm hoping that the average American would condemn such a government mandate because it would be a form of slavery, the forcible use of one person to serve the purposes of another."

And yes, Obama IS a socialist... the liberals of "today" ARE socialists...

In a socialistic society I would think that there would be programs that would provide housing for the elderly so that they would not have to be concerned with such things. Or in the alternative that the Department of Aging would provide such services if they were needed. Would that not be socialism? Helping the sick, infirm, elderly or incapable to live lives of dignity?

I always enjoy Walter Williams' column. I think he is more libertarian than conservative.

"Up to 2/3 of the federal budget consists of taking property from one American and giving it to another. Were a private person to do the same thing, we would call it theft. When government does it, we euphemistically call it income redistribution. That is exactly what thieves do....redistribute income. Reaching into someone else's pocket is despicable and worthy of condemnation." Walter Williams

In a socialist society, the govt. would not force you to mow her lawn. The govt. will have programs that will assist the old lady. Unlike what we have right now in this country, that thousands of elderly livings on a fix income are loosing their houses and the govt. is not doing much for them. I rather be a socialist than a cold shoulder non caring conservative.

No I wouldn't agree with the punishment. But I do think that its a little far fetched of a question. I have neighbors that aren't able to plow thier own snow, because he is in a wheel chair and she is blind. But as a good neighbor I plow thier drive-way for them and ask for nothing in return. Why? you may ask. Because its the right thing to do and its a good social gesture. Instead of saying, "I have more moey than you and I don't have time". By pulling all together we can all get the job done TOGETHER.
Being that your a doctor doesn't make you any better than me, nor does it make me any better than you. I can't do your job and I'm sure you don't want to do mine. But as long as I keep building the roads, I now that you will be able to get to work and help someone feel better so they can do thier job. Isn't that a form of being a part of "Socialism"? If not, then you may want to stop paying your "Social Security Taxes".

Excellent analogy. I am all about serving my neighbors, I just don't want government to force me to do this in the form of taxes.

I might suggest speaking with someone that has lived in a socialist country.
Also, start with Korea and do a night view of the border between north and south.
Tell me what you see.
Now about the old ladies yard.
Not to worry.
Obama will moe it.

It appears the OP doesn't quite grasp what socialism is, nor the fact that Obama is nowhere close to being a socialist. The progressive income tax (cited by many conservatives as socialism and redistribtuion of wealth) in the United States was implemented to pay for World War II in the 40's. Now we all know the political class, conservatives, that constantly advocate war. There are more adult methods for arguing that you do not agree with Obama and his policies that do not include childish tangents and terms of which you do not even comprehend.
