Church organizations denounce the celebration as an affront to values
AMSTERDAM, Netherlands - Amsterdam hosted a Christmas celebration for its gay community on Sunday featuring a nativity tableau with a male Mary in drag that church organizations denounced as an affront to traditional values.
Is the same religion that committed genocide of the natives of the entire Western Hemisphere, committed the Spanish Inquisition, and generally made life risky for any dissidents for centuries, REALLY going to try and speak about morals?!? Seriously?????
To be fair, show me any group - racial, religious, ethnic, political - that didnot commit genocide of one sort or another centuries ago. I mean, I could say the same thing about England -- how dare they try to get on a moral highground about anything after what they did to the Scots, the Irish, the Indians etc etc... Remember the burning of Catholics in England ? Should all protestants be held suspect because of that? No.
I'm afraid when it comes to past sins, we are all guilty retroactively. It really is a case of 'what genocide have you perpetrated lately?" And that would go for the entire human race.
Off the bat, I would not think twice about this as men have historically played womens parts. But after looking at the picture.....I have to admit to feeling divided. It looks to me that they put a very stereotypical gay spin on the nativity (is it just me, or does Joseph look like a leather bear?). I don't know if they are trying to make the point that at the time of Jesus' birth, he and his family + the shepherds et al were considered outcasts as many homosexuals are considered today? Or are they just being prickish to upset the Christians? If it is the later, I'm afraid that I have no use for that. Why be rude for the sake of being rude?
It is so emberrassing what they do over there....it is like the want to see how far can we go without anybody keeping them from doing what they are doing. I remember a Gay parade over there and 2 lesbians were kissing all the time while walking in the parade and having a toddler on their shoulders. They passed our store and since no customers could come in due to the parade we started to watch a little. The lesbians started to curse at us, not because we said anything, but because they saw our disgusted faces.....even gays who want to live like the rest of us, (no kissing in theopen but behind closed doors) were disgusted and told us many times over, that these gay's are ruin it for them and they are having the same feelings towards them as most hetero sexuals have. If they want to be accepted than behave normal and don't start to provoke.

Sir, I am going to have to ask you to put down the crack pipe.

Perhaps, but can you justify their dictation of morals for the rest of us?

Can I justify Islams attempt to dictate morals, or protestants, or animists or scientologists? Dude, the world is filled with people who think they and only they have found the way to salvation. It means nothing. Not to me, at anyrate. Now when they try to pass legislation that reflects their religious beliefs then that does affect me, and then I do get involved. But because they hold the nativity sacred, or the menorrah or ramadan or auditing I am not going to go out of my way to make fun of them to **** them off. Why? That is just completely rude and well....prickish.
