Why DON'T you do drugs?

To me, it just always seemed like a waste of time.

Who is advocating driving while high or driving under any type of drug or alcohol induced influence? No one that I know. I don't see how that is logical to jump from doing drugs or alcohol to driving; just because some idiots do it, doesn't mean the rest of us will. I'll imbibe vodka until I see double, but I won't have the urge to suddenly get in a car and start swerving on the highway.

Have you ever sped once in your life?? I mean going like 56 in a 55 lane? That's consciously breaking the law.

People break the law whether they consciously or unconsciously do it. Just had to throw that out there.

For the same reasons I don't drink alcoholic beverages. I enjoy my brain cells. I like being in complete control over myself.

Why? Because I don't want to lose control of my cognitive senses, be poisoned, turn retarded, or die. I have absolutely no desire to lose control or awareness of my faculties. When one buys drugs off the street, you have NO idea what you're really getting. I would bet almost every street purchase of drugs has a substantial amount of "something else" included. Talcum powder, baking soda, tea leaves, oregano, whatever. If I truly wanted to use drugs, I'd just make my own.

On the other hand, I frequently drink alcohol. Not because it's "legal", but because it's REGULATED. I can go purchase a bottle of wine and not worry about dropping dead due to some toxic added ingredient someone dumped in to boost quantity and profit. I also brew my own beer a few times a year.

I am now and always will be a proponent for drug legalization and regulation. Humans have used mood-altering substances for thousands of years - what was once a cultural tradition has now blown into a disastrous criminal mess. Clearly the "war on drugs" is a losing battle, as we are now seeing the horrors of homegrown meth labs in the last decade or so. Not to mention the subtle war currently occuring along the US/Mexico border, especially in Juarez.

Opinions?
You never drink alcohol?

A cup of wine with dinner does a lot more good than bad in relation to one's heart. I would agree that turning into a drunk is bad, however.

Is life so bad one needs to escape their own mind to try and solve their problems.....only to wake up the next day with a new problem and the same old one.
