There are so many Bush-haters on this forum, this will probably be the shortest thread in CD's history.
Either that or the Bush-haters will hijack it and turn it into another Bush hate fest.
For the record, I have two things to thank Bush for: 1) No further terrorist attacks on US soil after 9/11 and 2) doing the right thing by commuting the sentences of Border Patrol agents, Ramos and Campeon (even if he did wait to the last minute).
I thank Bush for showing the country how not to be a good president, for proving that Yale graduates morons, for showing how to lose a war even with a big price tag and a military advantage, and for showing a segment that exists in this country that we all should be ashamed of.
Have to love the class from everyone on here and those chanting hey hey goodbye at the inauguration. We supported Obama in my house but watching the people there and some people on here makes me sick.
I may not have agreed with President Bush on some issues but he did his best at this job. Is it his fault the American people elected him twice? I wish him well in his retirement, he always seemed like the kind of guy you could talk sports with or just shoot the bull.

how in the world can we blame one man for 911? C'mon.... time to move on and stop using him as an escape goat for everything wrong with America. Could You do any better?
obviously I didn't vote for Obama... but he is the President now so I will respect him, and pray that he lives up to the EXTREMELY high expectations that have been placed on him. let's remember he is just a man. i for one am already tired of seeing the extreme idolization he is recieving.... good grief.

To be fair, we didn't really elect him twice...
My father has met Bush a few times, and confirmed what you said - that he is a "cool" guy who would be fun to hang out with... but my dad still voted for the other guys, and has no problem criticizing Bush's presidential "skills." Cool dude doesn't equal good President, unfortunately.

I have no issues with President Bush personally and am not one of those people who think he had evil intentions. I feel like he did what he thought was most important and best for the country. History will decide his legacy.
I thank President Bush for his service to our country. He is an honorable man, a classy guy, who always had the best interest of the country at heart and served us during an exceedingly dangerous and difficult time in our history.
That he made mistakes is known. That he was most assuredly elected twice is a fact despite those who will never be able to accept that.
History will tell a different story if the liberals haven't taken over the earth in 40 years and rewritten the truth. And we will also hear about a time in the early 21st century when the word spin began to mean something far beyond the happy whirl of a child.
Finally President Bush took his leave of his service with great dignity making every effort to create a smooth transition of power in a time when above all we should be working together rather than with divisive hatred and anger.
Conveniently forgetting of course, that most presidents don't epically fail and ALLOW an attack to happen. Bush and company dropped the ball on this one -- they had all the information ahead of time pointing towards the fact that this was going to happen and they did nothing to prevent it. Bush etc are directly to blame for 9/11 and deserve no kudos after the fact for "no further terrorist attacks on US soil..."
Bye bye Bush...good riddance and don't let the door smack you in the butt on the way out.
