I'm sure there are quite few in Congress who would be very interested in learning where it is they should go in order to obtain these free homes in the Washington, DC area. Do you have the 411 on that to post for us? Homes in the DC area tend to be quite expensive, and it can often be a stretch to afford one, particularly when you already have another one to maintain back in the home state or district.

Meanwhile, if the governors had wanted to lay low on the matter of the stimulus money, they didn't really need to mention it. It's their agenda that's being followed after all, yet here they are, splashed all over the media noting how badly their states are in need of this funding. I wonder how much you depend on your own state's spending without managing to realize it...

The only free housing for members of Congress - not a free "home", BTW - is if they choose to sleep in their offices.

A freshman congressman from Utah is trying to save $1,500 monthly on rental expenses by sleeping on his office, at least after office hours.

Representative Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, tells CNN he gets good pay as a congressman, but if you add up other expenses and the future of his family, every amount saved is worth it.

House Administration Committee member Zoe Lofgren, D-Calif., warned against the practice using the office as sleeping quarters during the orientation for freshmen congressmen, as well as sleeping in the House gym.

However, there is no definite House rules prohibiting House members as well as outsiders to sleep in the office. There were reports that an estimated over 50 congressmen are doing the practice.
