Headlines:
"Tobacoo Industry moves overseas."
"America loses more jobs."
"Hugo Chavez now has America over a barrel" (Pun is intented)
"Tobacoo Indusry file bankrutcy and move overseas."
"Convience store closes, becomes eye-sore in community."
I have an idea. Lets close down another Amercian Industry. We already know, Ameicans do not need to work, they do not need jobs.
We can open up a new Industry in Mexico. I hear they are looking for jobs.
I'm sure Castro can sell us cigarettes.
We've already lost the steel industry, and automotive industry to other countries.
I'm sure Hugo Chavez would love to plant tobacco and sell it to us. With the stipulation that if you want my oil, you must buy my cigarettes.
A convience stores major source of income is the sale of cigarettes.
With the higher tax on cigarettes, their sales drop and the store has several options to stay in business:

1. Increase prices on other items sold in the store.
2. Cut the number of employees.
3. Cut their hours of operation.
4. If they own a chain, they can reduce the number of stores they own by closing some of them. (forcing you to drive somewhere else to get your goods.) (therefore putting more people on unemployment.)
Where is the commonsense?
Then you wonder why our companies are going overseas?
Ameicans are great at shooting themselves in the foot.
Don't you just love Princess/Premium Nancy Pelosi.
Don't you love how SCHIP is going to save us.

Personally, IMHO if the tobacco industry dried up and died altogether, the world would be a better place.

How many other legal industries make their money by addicting people and slowly poisoning them?

Alcohol people can use without getting addicted. Most prescription drugs aren't addictive, and those that are at least have other benefits that (supposedly) override their drawbacks.

Where's the link?

The tobacco industry as a whole doesn't get to declare bankruptcy, so which companies are we talking about?

They MOVED overseas, or they've had production overseas for some time, and are expanding their markets abroad????

What really gets me about cigarettes is that in the UK they put the warning and lucid pictures of what smoking does on the box! They are helping people to stop smoking.
Talk about ruining your own business!!
