During McCains's and Obama's campaign, McCain asked over and over to hold Town hall meetings which was denied by scared Obama...now McCain isn't on the scene, Obama wants to be the nice cool president who can do what McCain did all the time...and that is going to meet the people...but Obama is only to go there to make propoganda for his stimilus package and doing what he is so good at...trying to scare people and telling how Bush made this mess and how he can change things and if not a depression will be the result....scare techniques......I thought that is torture...or is that allowed under Obama's regime....
Isn't that what most town hall meetings are anyway? A chance for the person to promote their views, be it from the left or right? And I'd rather have the sitting president himself meeting citizens than being walled up in Washington.
What's ironic about this post is that McCain himself would probably applaud Obama doing this.

Yes but the campaign is over!
But this is the only way Obama knows,...... I mean he did campaign for 2 years but I thought he said that gave him experience. this appears it has not given him the experience he needs.
This is not a case of "copying McCain". The Town Hall structured meeting has been the crux of American politics since colonial days and many politicians use it as a forum to promote their ideas and/or feel out the sentiments of the public at large . Much like this forum only more structured.
Frankly, I'm suprised Obama is going to Fort Myers:
1. McCain won the area by a 11 point margin
2. The local congressman, Connie Mack, is vehemently opposed to this stimulus and no amount of grassroots orgainizing is going to get him to change his mind.
3. The local sheriff is the one who publicly called him "Hussein" during the campaign, sparking that controversy.

More of a "he's wasting his time".... most of his words are going to fall on deaf ears... his crowd of 1,500 might support him, but other than that he'll get about the same amount of support in Ft Myers that he'd get in Oklahoma.... not much.

And who do you think invented it back then? A young John McCain!
Obama is standing in a RV factory right now telling the people he wants to protect their jobs, and at the same time talking about "green" energy and fuel efficiency. Doesn't he know RV's get about 8 mpg? If he could have his way every one of those people would be out of a job.
