The term welfare is too all encompassing to describe the mix Federal, state and local funds and programs to make any analysis regarding who bears the cost for any particular program.

You obviously don't know anything about the compromise bill signed off on by both the state Republican and Democratic leaderships. It's a mix of spending cuts and tax increases because that's the only way to solve the current crisis. Also the tax increases are fairly modest because the state has cut the state income tax rate by 10 percentage points over the last decade and this fix would only raise it 5-8 percentage points so people would still have 5-2 percentage points lower taxes then during the late 90's. The other main item, the gas tax increase, is virtually required by the state law to lower green house gas output plus most of that money is dedicated to paying for increased mass transit including the state's high speed rail system championed by no less then the Republican governor.

Stop being so god damned arrogant all the time and learn to pay your own way through life instead of always asking us to subsidize you, free loaders.
It would appear that it is you who is in denial. You seem to believe that red/blue states are 100% one way or the other. However, in reality there is no such thing because our system is 'winner take all'. Not sure what you are complaining about, Democrats have always supported giving out free money, even if you do not work for it.

You also fail to mention federal subsidies that are dished out to farmers in Plains states. Controlling food production is a very important aspect of our government, and it is not a cheap policy. It is no coincidence that all of the states that are big on farming are also receiving more than they give.

And once again you forget that the red states have been booming these past 8 years (especially in the Southeast and Texas), a lot of federal funds have been allocated for interstate construction, and general infrastructure improvements. To me, that is not the same as the stereotypical 'welfare queen' complex that originated with Nixon's campaign staff.

And upon review of the original post that started this laughable excuse for a debate, half the states you are whining about are only deficit by a few tenths of a point. Even worse is the fact that a lot of our so called red and blue states are only classified as such by a few thousand voters.

Mountains out of mole hills. And as with all Democratic economic policy, stagflation is sure to resurface in the coming years.
