Let's start with initiative 1639 here in Washington state, which once had the highest per-capita NRA membership of any state. I-1639 places restrictions on the sale of assault style weapons, and requires that all guns be unloaded and locked up when not in use. The intent is to finally put an end to the mass slaughter of innocents. It passed in a 60% landslide!

Then we go to gun-crazy Texas, where Beto O'Rourke openly campaigned in support of commonsense gun control. O'Rourke was rated an 'F' by the NRA, while Ted Cruz was rated 'A+.' Cruz barely won the race, 50.9-48.3

Several Republicans of commonsense bent on the gun issue also won, such as Rick Scott in FL and Phil Scott in Vermont, showing that it is not necessary to support access to assault style weapons and high caliper clips in order to win as a Republican.

Quote:
“[G]overnor [Phil Scott] in Vermont completely gave a one-finger salute to the Constitution and to gun owners,” NRA spokesperson Dana Loesch said at the time. “He is no friend of firearm owners, and I hope that all firearm owners remember this betrayal the next time he’s up for reelection.”
He won last night. In Vermont, a state where you don't even have to have a permit to carry a Glock on your hip, and where even Bernie Sanders has had to make concessions to the gun lobby. We made real progress towards commonsense gun safety yesterday.

Do you think a criminal who is contemplating murder gives a damn what your restriction or law says? Why don't you cut to the heart of the problem if you really believe that all it takes to stop a criminal is another law: make murder illegal.

Oh... that's right... murder is illegal.

And that law against murder sure as hell stops murderers, doesn't it?

Don't be fooled by the vote count for Beto v. Cruz.
Greg Abbott gets 400,000 more votes than Cruz? Eyebrow gets raised.
Beto gets 500,000 more votes than the Demwit running for Governor. Confirms suspicions.

It does not work like that in Texas.
Cruz won in an unrigged vote, by the same margin Abbott beat the Democrat.
Soros had invested a bunch of money on Beto and he was going to make sure he won. The turnout was too high to overcome the massive republican turnout.

Sorry Travis, gun laws won't do what you want them too. Just having laws doesn't mean they will be followed.
Kind of like getting an education doesn't make you smart !

Not so sure I follow you here. I did hear that Beto outspent Cruz by almost double, so that is a fair point. However it still seems significant that Beto came within 2 points of winning in gun-crazy Texas. Beto stated openly that he would like to ban the AR-15

Trump hates property rights. He doesn't need a Dem house to purge individuals of their rights.

There is no way in hell, Abbott got 400,000 more votes than Ted Cruz
And for damn sure, Beto didn't get 500,000 more votes than the Dem running for governor.
When they are both statewide votes.
It doesn't work like that in Texas.
