Several Republican governors are standing by the RNC talking points, and saying they will not accept the portion of the stimulus bill spending that is geared towards unemployment insurance expansion.

This is angering many unemployed in those states - and on an issue like this - they will have very long memories... certainly thru the next election cycle of these governors - and they will probably take their revenge out on Republcans at all levels of government.

The Republicans are coming across to more and more of the country as being blindly opposed to all that Obama is trying to do to help the working American - and for solely partisan political reasons...

Where were these passionate Regressives when they found out that the village idiot LIED to go to war? Picking their noses? Why weren't they standing strong when it was obvious that the village idiot's war was sucking this country dry AND ineffective? Sitting on their thumbs?

The Republican party needs to be disbanded. They are absolutely no help and haven't a clue. Their policies have no place in modern society.

Just more proof that the Republicans are going to really get whooped in 2010...

They are definitely politically tone-deaf...

Have been for years...

Also from your article:
Quote:
The governors contend that once the federal money ran out, they would have to continue providing the new benefits, which they say would force them to raise taxes on businesses. The federal money will end in two or three years in some states, or much later in others, depending on the size of the state allocation.
And..

Quote:
The governors have mostly said they do not object to the stimulus bill’s $25 per week increase in unemployment benefits, or a new federal extension of benefits.
The opposition is in changing state laws, not whether or not to accept money for programs that do not exist.

Great to see that republicans care more about standing up for their party than for the people they are supposed to represent.

Nonsense, that's the cover since they can certainly change their eligibility requirements and include a sunset clause so that those changes expire at the end of the stimulus period.

Who cares about the unemployed in the red states? Bad things happen when you vote Republican. Maybe the rednecks can go kill snakes for food. It leaves more funds for the blue states.
