To hear the Repubs talk about any stimulus spending is to hear them denounce the thing they love the most. Somehow stimulus spending proposed by Ds is always bad, but building useless weapons systems in their district is always good.

Somehow these idiots forget that EVERYTHING they say is on tape. Just waiting to be spliced for their opponent's campaign ads.

Top Congressional Districts for DoD spending:

The ranking of congressional districts by dollar value of total defense contract is given below:

1. Virginia's 8th district $11.789 billion (985 defense contractors) - Jim Moran (D)

2. Virginia's 10th district $6.096 billion (664 defense contractors) - Frank Wolf (R)

3. California's 53rd district $3.034 billion (325 defense contractors) - Susan Davis (D)

4. Virginia's 11th district $2.931 billion (514 defense contractors) - Gerry Connolly (D)

5. Alabama's 1st district $2.585 billion (335 defense contractors) - Jo Bonner (R)

Looks to me like the Democrats also get much benefit from DoD spending.

You're right newtoca, except none of those Ds are hollering about the stimulus package being "porkulus". Also I'm pretty sure, but I'm not going to look up the election map right now, that the VA 10th and 11th house some of the Washington DC area's (lobbying) offices of the big defense contractors and isn't the CA 53rd Lockheed etc? Or am I thinking of San Diego?

Excellent point though. I just think it's funny that "non war" spending is bad and "war" spending is good to these guys. That and the way that so many defense projects get parcelled out to different districts to get the Rep to vote for a weapons system so he can say "I brought home the bacon" in the form of the (fill in the name of your favorite, overpriced, unnecessary) weapons system.
