All this talk of socialism really makes me convinced we should have more of it (Al Gore, ethics)

Rusiia was a socialist when it was the USSR. Just as china was communist when their citizens were starving for so long. They how have allowed individual controls over business to a certtain extent but still have governamnt controls over things like political thought. We have seen teh so called peoles controls over the years in both the USSR and China resulkt in military suppresss of basci free speech and the difference betweeen the elite leaders lifes and those of the common person. North Korea is a perfect example of a communist society verus a democratic one in South Korea. They starve by teh thonusands evry year so that the elite can maintain control i th name of the people.
You have demonstrated that you have no clue what Communism actually is. Russia was never communist, China was never communist, North Korea was never communist, Cuba was never communist, nor was ANY other country claiming they are communist. They violate most every pillar of Communism, most namely, the government ownership of the means (rather then the communal), and the use by the government of those means in capitalistic endeavor (the workers do not own the means, nor do they share in the fruit of their production). There is no "controlling party" in Communism. No representitive is given that type of power.
These countries you mention are essentially run like a big corporation, with a man like Stalin or Jong Ill as the CEO. However, unlike in capitalism, there is no middle man to them creating laws to keep themselves in power, and no middle man to stop them from subverting the labor.
You stated I believe we are....we certainly aren't capitalist.
But you believe somehow government will not do this....when it is made up(literally-take a look at Obamas advisers) of the same 'capitalist pigs'....
Weird.
Yes.. ultimately when the PEOPLE start utilizing their voting power and get rid of the currupt politician PURCHASED by those capitalistic PIGS.. then yes.. we will!
Maybe, when health insurance lobbyists are squashed.. who are only concerned about their PrOFITS and NOT in the viability of the healthcare industry or the health of our citizens.. we can actually ACHIEVE REAL health reform.
A lot can/will be accomplished by electing the right politicians. I think Obama was a good start.

Lets hope you didn't vote for either McCain Or Obama...

Perhaps when government stops being involved and we have tort reform of some sort we might too....

You must have missed where his economic advisers are the same capitalist pigs you rail against....oops...
So what? Collectivism is a huge blanket term that covers systems that are highly different then each other. Facism is collectivism, and so is Communism, and so is State Run Capitalism, however, these are not the same philosophies, and Communism differs heavily from the other two.

The US political process is intentially set up to subvert the popular opinion. Your individual vote has been rendered nearly worthless.
Lets hope you didn't vote for either McCain Or Obama...
I voted for Obama.. yes I did and proud.. thank you

No.. perhaps when we stop having a GREEDY middleman standing between American's and Healthcare we'll actually have REAL reform and access to healthcare for all American's .. not just for those fortunate enough to make enough money to pay for it (the healthcare AND /OR the insurance). Tort reform is a BANDAID that won't really alleviate the problem AT ALL. But alas that has been debated ad nauseum on the healthcare threads. You ARE aware that the average insurance premiums for an average family of 4 take up approx 21% of an average Families income of $56K.?..that's equivelant to a second mortgage or rent! Oh.. and that 50% of all bankruptcies in the U.S are becasue of healthcare bills of which, I believe it was something like 65% of those ACTUALLY HAD insurance!!!!

No I didn't.. doesn't neccesarily mean I agree with it all.. BUT .. if they get the job done.. than alright I'll feel better.
And Hey.. it was Obama that is saying.. FIX YOURSELF>. CHANGE IT UP or you don't get a dime!! I say hooray for that! FINALLY something that makes sense.. if it's broke FIX IT !!!
