nononsense before I went mgmt I was in the union. Nothing you are talking about ever happened. I have no clue where this stuff happened in your personal life but perhaps you should just stick with that story and not presume it is everyones experience. That's the first part.

Second part is if you don't want to be in a union, don't. Why you're taking it upon yourself to attack unions you want nothing to do with doesn't jive with letting people live as they see fit.
Third part is you consistently invent class war arguments when none were actually made. It's all in your head.
Fourth part is sucessful people are not the source of anyones job. The talents of individuals are the source of their jobs. That's why they're paid. Companies need skills. They also have the ability to work independently, that is, to create their own jobs with the right talents. Not sure why you feel the need to kiss anyone's ring for the privilege of being hired, but that doesn't apply to the rest of the world. Just your world.

“The public loves Joe the Plumber,” the spokesperson, Mary Ellen Burke, claimed to me. “They see him as a role model.”

Asked whether Joe the Plumber had any particular knowledge or expertise about EFCA that might explain the decision to enlist him, Burke said that he was being enlisted to provide a “grassroots perspective” and “the working perspective” on the measure.

Pressed on whether Joe the Plumber has any particular claim to being a spokesperson on the issue, Burke replied that “he represents the American worker.”

The spokeswoman couldnt say whether Samuel was being paid for Joe's appearances. So he could be working for free - setting an example for the American worker that the right wing manipulators want to believe he represents.

I dont think the typical Palin/Plumber base voter comprehends that "Joe the Plumber" is a cartoon character, like Bozo the Clown or McGruff the DARE dog. They trust him and believe in him anyway - maybe even because of it - and they're comfortable following "Joe"'s political guidance.

Dont you love the awful circus that is the Republican Party?
Who is Mary Ellen Burke and who gave her the authority to spout such utter stupidity:

“The public loves Joe the Plumber,” the spokesperson, Mary Ellen Burke, claimed to me. “They see him as a role model.”

I am part of the "public" and I do not love Joe The Toilet Unclogger nor do I see the geek as a role model.

That makes MaryEllen an out and out liar...and really stupid....like most people who are against Unions.

BTW, the EFCA DOES give employees a CHOICE on secret ballots. AND the way things are now the employer can harrass and fire employees who are for organizing....that needs to change.

Well the unions could use a little busting.

Unions only exist to force employers to pay employees more than they are worth.

Woof woof, guard dog.
[Under current labor law a] company can refuse to bargain with a union chosen by workers through majority sign-up, even if 100 percent of the workers want to be represented by the union. The choice of whether to use an election process or majority sign-up to form the union is now exclusively controlled by companies.[3] If enacted, the Employee Free Choice Act would require the NLRB to certify a bargaining representative without directing an election if a majority of the bargaining unit employees signed such cards through the majority sign-up process.[1]

If enacted, EFCA would require the NLRB to certify the union as the bargaining representative without directing an election if a majority of the bargaining unit employees signed cards;[1] however, employees may still request a secret ballot election if 30% of employees petition for one.[3] The EFCA would allow employees, rather than employers, to make a decision whether to use the card-check process or hold a secret-ballot election.[3][4] - EFCA wikipedia entry; also Media Matters - Fortune 's Easton misrepresented debate over Employee Free Choice Act
This is what your masters dont want to give up:
[Currently] [e]mployers have access to workers on the job while unions can only contact them off-site. According to research conducted by the University of Illinois at Chicago, 91% of employers require employees to attend one-on-one anti-union meetings with their supervisors during union organizing drives. It also found that when faced with organizing efforts, 30% of employers fire pro-union workers, 49% threaten to close the worksite, and 51% of employers coerce workers into opposing unions with bribery or favoritism....Other academic studies support these findings.... Research shows that fear of employer retaliation is one of the main reasons workers don't join a union.

I know - they just lie.

You're right about poor Mary Ellen Burke, too - another guard dog for her owners.
