Samuel Wurzelbacher doesnt even have a plumber's license. But Samuel's "Joe the Plumber" persona has been enlisted by Americans for Prosperity, an anti-labor group, to speak against the Employee Free Choice Act, which allows workers a better opportunity to organize.
“The public loves Joe the Plumber,” the spokesperson, Mary Ellen Burke, claimed to me. “They see him as a role model.”
Asked whether Joe the Plumber had any particular knowledge or expertise about EFCA that might explain the decision to enlist him, Burke said that he was being enlisted to provide a “grassroots perspective” and “the working perspective” on the measure.
Pressed on whether Joe the Plumber has any particular claim to being a spokesperson on the issue, Burke replied that “he represents the American worker.”
The spokeswoman couldnt say whether Samuel was being paid for Joe's appearances. So he could be working for free - setting an example for the American worker that the right wing manipulators want to believe he represents.
I dont think the typical Palin/Plumber base voter comprehends that "Joe the Plumber" is a cartoon character, like Bozo the Clown or McGruff the DARE dog. They trust him and believe in him anyway - maybe even because of it - and they're comfortable following "Joe"'s political guidance.
Dont you love the awful circus that is the Republican Party?
Ooh I see, we cant lump Marian Barry into the Democratic Party because you liberals call him "just one individual" but you can continue to bring up "Joe the Plumber", who seems to have found a legit job and try to make it seem newsworthy? Why exactly is this news that I as a Republican would care about?
Only people talking about "Joe the Plumber" seem to be Democrats.. Does he intimidate you guys?

Hahaha, yeah! Here's a secret - so does Sarah Palin! We're terrified of Sarah and Joe... we just cover up our fear with laughter, you see.
Marion Barry...
Okay, I'll explain...the news is the black comedy of this guy S. Wurzelbacher going around the country in character as "Joe the Plumber," playing roles that represent forces that would hurt real plumbers and working people - the group that his character is supposed by the right wing manipulators to represent.
I think it's part funny and part really disturbing - funny because it's absurd and disturbing because there are - surely not millions - of functioning adults who fall for this, who embrace it.
Karl Rove made a good living.... Samuel is doing his masters a valuable service. Even though the Americans for Prosperity spokesperson "couldnt say" whether he was actually being paid to bark for them.
Pro-union poster calls "Joe the Plumer" a "cartoon character"

Only if you call coercion and intimidation techniques "better opportunity". Many employees (particularly those who don't want to be a member of a union), are strongly opposed to this proposed law, and they should be.
A secret ballot has always been the American way. Not being allowed to vote in secret, but to have everyone know how you vote, would undoubtedly lead to intimidation, coercion, and perhaps even vandalism and violence against those who do not wish to unionize.
I say this, because this is the record of union thugs toward people who do not join in strikes, or who in any way go against a labor union.
One of the largest labor unions is the Service Employees International Union, a branch or affiliate of ACORN. We all know by now about ACORN'S tactics and method of operation. Violence and intimidation are not beneath them. They are as corrupt as any organization gets. It was ACORN that organized the bus tours and protests in front of AIG executives homes recently; these people were hired, much as people are hired to picket.
For the "left", which always talks of "fairness", it seems that what is most fair would be to allow employees to vote according to their desire and conscience, without fear or consequence, and that is with a secret ballot.
This legislation only serves to guarantee the unions more power. It does nothing else.

He is anything but. He is an average citizen who wants the freedom to do as he pleases without undo government interference, and without the excessive taxation and wealth redistribution that Democrats plan.
He, like most of us, are opposed to this demonization of those who are successful. It is the successful, after all, that are the source of jobs for people like you.
The job loss figures have increased substantially in recent weeks, and will continue, so long as companies find it necessary to cut costs in response to the increased taxes on their business that they are going to be expected to pay. It is the natural consequence of government regulation and burdensome taxation. Why haven't we learned this?

It looks to me like the only circus going on is the Reid/Pelosi/Obama three ring circus that is known as "Democratic" (Party) style governance.

Democrat attacking an avg citizen and this is one of the reasons I left the democrat party.

We Republicans do not have "masters" and "slaves". It was the Republican Party that ended slavery in America.
However, it might be different in Democrat circles, where unions are all powerful, and dictate to their subjects on how to vote on issues, and even when to work, or when not to work.
When they are told not to work, they are paid by the unions (and even non-union people are hired) to picket and protest.
So what if "Joe the Plumber" is paid to be a spokesman for Americans for Prosperity? Is that different than ACORN paying people to picket, or even pose as "tourists" and parade in front of AIG executive homes in a phony protest?
There seems to be a double standard, wouldn't you say?
For the left, it is about as legitimate as it gets. Propaganda is the left's greatest friend.
