The GOP has morphed into a stupid, ugly caricature of "conservatism" that I want no part of. They've demonstrated that they can't be trusted to govern. They show little concern for the national interest. They're too busy snuggling up to corporate interests.
I'm surprised in what you posted given that you first voted for Nixon. You just described what one political party can do when controlling both houses and the presidency in which the DNC controlled in the 40-60s. Absolute corruption in which the DNC was guilty of for many years then the pendulum swung the other way. The RNC fell flat on their face with greed just like the DNC will do, with or without Obama. This country really needs a third party strong enough to put both these silly power hungry ego maniac parties in their place until the 3 party wins both houses and the presidency and becomes stupid like the other two.

I read an article about young people today and it said this slur of calling someone a "communist" really goes right over their heads.

They don't use the term at all. It means nothing to them. They were not even around to remember the USSR.

It's like someone in the 1970's calling someone a carpet bagger or a blue belly...the slur had run it's course over time....LOL

It doesn't matter. The right has been calling Democrats commies since Roosevelt was elected - four times.

The country didn't go communist then, nor under Truman, Kennedy, Johnson, Carter or Clinton. It's not going communist now. Just a bunch of whiny sore losers whose height of intellectual commentary amounts to "communist!"

But obama has no more favorable rating than the average president at this pooint . In modern presdients Carter had 70% at this point and Obama falls right in the middle. What he is low on is favorable rating by the other party . The democratic congress is at the lowest rating ever. Generally politicans are in very low ratings.

Basically if the elections were held today the GOP would still lose it's asse.

That's the bottom line.
