Actually, one can make a valid argument that we have corporate fascism in this country. The Bush/Obama team have emboldened these corporations, so both are economic fascists. Socialism and fascism are not mutually exclusive.
Maybe corporate fascism, but that's just part of it. Fascists are still proponents of private companies. They don't like socialists or communists. That is why Nazi Germany was opposed to the Soviet Union (even though the USSR wasn't exactly communist). Unlike other ideologies, fascism puts social views before economic ones. Nationalism, authoritarianism, and sometimes racism are the main issues with fascists.

Fascists do not support private enterprise in the same way capitalists do. Large corporations are fused with government bureaucracies and power is aggregated at the top. Bailouts/rescue operations for private enterprises lives and dies only with the top organizations. To say it's "private" is intellectually bankrupt. Small businesses (aka a bourgeois class) is permitted to operate but only under the good graces of the government and subject to its whim.
They're all moron's ... doesn't make much of a difference which side your bread is buttered on.
As long as corporations continue write our legislation, morons will reign supreme.

When I say "private", I mean not collectively owned.
I know that, but saying the economic policies have a lot of similarities.
Just like Pinochet had similar social views as fascists and enforced them in a similar manner, but he his economic policies weren't fascist.
I think another term is needed...
Well, capitalism and fascism both support "private companies". The difference is, with capitalism it's to benefit the owner whereas with fascism, it's to benefit the state.
With fascism, there is obviously more government intervention, but it's nothing like socialism.

All this banter back and forth over whether Barry is Socialist, Fascist, communist but not about what Barry isn't.
The real issue is that Barry isn't a capitalist.
