Here's one about Carter meeting with the National Security Advisor from CNN in March. CNN Political Ticker: All politics, all the time Jimmy Carter « - Blogs from CNN.com "This is a general briefing as he has had with past administrations."

Here's an interview with Carter in January.

Here's Clinton last month:

It looks to me the president can use an executive order to declassify documents using any criteria he wishes.

HowStuffWorks "Which secret government documents will be declassified on 12/31?"

And he hasn't been bashful about using them.

Love it!

Let's see if obama has the acorns now that he has been called on his politicization of our national security.

DRUDGE REPORT: Cheney Calls For More CIA Reports To Be Declassified 2009®

Let's see what the coward who is in the WH has to say now.
This is SO, SO, SO, SO, SO, STUPID and shows a total lack of understanding of the issue.

First of all, let's say some of this did work and some of the information was valid... how does that prove that traditional methods would not have worked?

Secondly, and more importantly, SO WHAT IF IT DID WORK? Bringing the prisoner's son in the room and shooting the son in the head might have worked too... does that mean that the United States of America should do it?

The issue here is not efficacy -- the issue here is legality! Are we or are we not bound by laws? Do we break our laws when we find our laws inconvenient or do we stick by them. Plain and simple.

This shows why Cheney is the worst VP in the history of this Republic and why his approval ratings were even lower than Bush's... he is a lunatic pretending to be some sort of sober elder statesman.

So Cheney's essentially attempting to justify the means by the end result, THERE's a surprise!

Trying to justify what may well have been illegal behavior by claiming benefits is a LOAD OF CRAP! Just what I'd expect from the Dick. His arrogance knows no limit.

Maybe he oughta be honest for once in his life and just say he'd trample any laws he'd care to in order to achieve his goals, carrying on the Nixon tradition.

It was not President Obama's choice. Had the court not ordered it, the memos would not have been released.
You really need to educate yourself about presidential powers, perrogative and authority before exposing how much you do not know.

The president can declassify and release any document he wants to.

Normally they will redacted.

Cheney's trying his best to stay in front of the investigation he fears is coming.
Yeah, yeah, I get it now. Somehow he hopes that by calling for more documents to be released that will throw off the left-wing fanatics and convince them that he has nothing to hide.

I see now.

So, you don't want to know that enhanced interrogation worked? Saved lives? Prevented attacks? Of course you don't.

Nothing illegal about the interrogation methods - can you provide a court example.

Please show us the authority by which the President, alone, can declassify ANY DOCUMENT HE WANTS.

I'd really like to see that language.
