Why do I get the feeling that the same folks who accuse hurricane Katrina victims of "waiting for the government to come save them" actually have more in common with those who believe that flu pandemic warnings are just a government joke?
And, why do I suspect that if the government did not issue these serious warnings these same individuals would be first in line at the microphone to scream about why the government didn't do enough to prevent the spread of the disease?
Just a friendly reminder:
Asian Flu Pandemic (1957-1958) 69,800 dead in the U.S. alone.
does anyone buy into this whole 'swine flu' paranoia? anyone thinking of getting vaccinated? anyone thinking about heading for the hills?
I've not heard one thing about a vaccination for this. If you have please direct me to the link. They are saying Relenza and Tamiflu may help with this.
I read about it on the Centers for Disease Control website yesterday and there was no mention of a vaccine. Has the OP heard something about a vaccine ALREADY being available??
Dont know, but in the 70's the US had an outbreak of Swine flue. I remember because my grandmother died from the vac. There was also another lady ( a dr.) in my town the was hospitalized and almost died due to the vac. She sued and got a large settlement.
Although there is does seem to be a lot of sensationalism regarding the swine flu (just like SARS and countless strains of influenza), this is the kind of thing public health professionals SHOULD be worrying about and not wasting their time with "lifestyle-related diseases".

As an asthma sufferer, I always take the flu and pneumonia shots each year but won't have any effect on this kind of flu.
As an asthmatic, lady, your immune system is always on hyper.
With 40 confirmed cases of swine flu in the U.S., an anti-terrorism expert is questioning whether the outbreak is an act of biological warfare.
"In this dangerous world, with an American president who is widely loved in the Arab/Muslim world … one must ask the hard question: Is this a coincidence or the result of a slick way to attack the United States without having President Obama, a perceived long term 'friend,' blamed for the attack?" Freedom Watch Chairman and General Counsel Larry Klayman said.
You have to wonder, is this part of the "change we were promised"?

I don't even want to guess that that is suppose to imply...
