I recently asked my friend's little girl what she wanted to be when she
grows up. She said she wanted to be President some day. Both of her
parents, liberal Democrats, were standing there, so I asked her, If you were
President what would be the first thing you would do?
She replied, I'd give food and houses to all the homeless people.
Her parents beamed.

Wow...what a worthy goal, I told her, But you don't have to wait until
you're President to do that. You can come over to my house and mow the lawn,
pull weeds, and sweep my driveway, and I'll pay you $50. Then I'll take you
over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out every day, and
you can give him the $50 to use toward food and a new house.

She thought that over for a few seconds, then she looked me straight in
the eye and asked, Why doesn't the homeless guy come over and do the work,
and you can just pay him the $50??

I said, Welcome to the Republican Party!

Her parents still aren't speaking to me.

I'm not surprised. It stinks when their little girl begins to think for herself and mommy and daddy are left wondering what went wrong.

No, you didn't. Cite the source that you got this little gem from if you want to reproduce it.

Cut it out - it is representative anecdote - and it seems all too true as well.

Yeah, like she's the type that even has any liberal Democrat "friends"...!

BTW, that joke's been repeated on a bunch of the usual 'winger sites, like here, at "sodahead" (a.k.a "American Patriot"):

Well, I can't send any liberal jokes to my niece. She had no sense of humor at all since she moved to CA. I told her to send the ACLU a religious Christmas card since there was a campaign to shower them with cards last Christmas and she sent back a note telling me not to send anything like that to her anymore.

She has gone to the dark side---I heard they have cookies----with Kool Aid. LOL

My understanding is that a very large percentage of homeless people have serious mental problems. Instead of thinking of them as lazy bums, maybe a little compassion for them would be a good thing.

Also, would you really want a mentally insane homeless person working around your house?
