As far as the horrible position American cars are look at on the World stage.
Please do not erase our American heritage when it comes to cars!
Look even our beer (Budweiser was sold to foreigners).
Buy Yuengling instead everybody(The only true American Beer)!
Chrysler has already been bailed out once, many years ago. If their management is fool enough to find itself in a like predicament then it's time for someone/thing to go.
So, as far as the U.S. 3 automakers, they've produced what the consumer wanted, or was told what they wanted. The consumer bought what it wanted or thought as such. Did either have consideration for the future of the company?
Apparently not. Now the government is telling both the automaker and the consumer what it's going to get. And the consumer is still gonna pay for it.
Exercise it. Stretch it. Relax it. Or it's gonna hurt. Like it or not. Hmmmm, where's ol Clayton Williams when you need him.
I say get rid of them. Its not the first time we had to bailout the car companies. If they were smart and actually responded to market signals back in the 70s due to the oil shocks, then they would have made the change to build smaller cars and foreign car companies would have never gained a strong foothold in America.
Sorry, competition is good and some of these companies are not competing. This is the second time that we have bailed out Chrysler. If we are to give anyone money, lets give it to Ford--the automobile company that hasn't needed a bailout. We might as reward solvent companies rather than insolvent ones.
BTW, most Americans cars are not American. The parts are built all over the word, only to be assembled later on in America. "Made in America" actually means "made somewhere else, but assembled in America".

As long as the obama government have their fingers in private enterprise as well as the unions getting sweetheart deals out of this - I won't be buying any vehicles from either company.
