Well I hope this is true but what I find funny is that people making $250,000 a year are not rich in my eyes.
A quarter million a year aint bad. If you're halfway responsible in any part of this country, you should be well off. If you have a Bentley a boat and a McMansion then maybe not but that's on you.

In the Northeast it is comfortable but far from what I would consider rich.

Not when you pay $13,000 a year in property tax or $3000 a year in car insurance alone forget everything else. So no it is NOT rich when you are living in NYC or NJ.
