Opening the borders is an insane idea. We'd have half of Mexico/Central America/Latin America here in a week. More importantly: the population of the U.S. has already surpassed the land's carrying capacity. It's time to put to rest the old chestnut of America being "a land of immigrants." That may have made sense up until around 1960, but no longer. The land can sustain a limited number of people. Period. I'm sorry if the laws of Nature don't accommodate political ideology, but you can't argue with Nature.
