Remember when Bush kept saying that Saddam Hussein was connected to 9/11?
As I recall ... the Republicans accepted this as fact ... even though it was "dead wrong".
The 9/11 Commission even verified there was absolutely no connection.
And yet, to this day, many Republicans still think there was a connection!
Re-read the 9/11 Commission report because thats not what it says at all.. It clearly says that they operated inside of Iraq with Husseins permission, not with his support.
The difference, conservatives will admit that there was no "assisting" going on but this does not mean they werent in Iraq, liberals, still think Clinton's impeachment was about sex, and Clinton ran a surplus budget.
Of course, you are right. My apologies. Let me give you a link to the complete torture memos that were just released. The following is a quote regarding those memos.
Quote:
These legal memoranda demonstrate in alarming detail exactly what the Bush administration authorized for "high value detainees" in U.S. custody. The techniques are chilling... We cannot continue to look the other way; we need to understand how these policies were formed if we are to ensure that this can never happen again. This is why my proposal for a Commission of Inquiry is necessary.
I am sure your questions (who and what happened) will be all answered by reading the memos. As for the charge, read my above posts where you will find this charge:
Quote:
The War Crimes Act of 1996, a federal statute set forth at 18 U.S.C. § 2441, makes it a federal crime for any U.S. national, whether military or civilian, to violate the Geneva Convention by engaging in murder, torture, or inhuman treatment.
They are working on it right now and thank God that justice may finally be served!
Pretty hard to impeach a president who has left the office.. Why didnt they proceed when Bush was President? The title of the thread after all talks about Republicans not impeaching for war crimes, an impossible task considering Republicans didnt hold Congress, Democrats did.
Are you so naive to think torture just popped up during the Bush presidency
I was going to say this too - that is completely naive. I still love the poster under another Gitmo/torture thread who indicated that Bush created Gitmo. Typical left wing blinders.
