I think it depends on where you are. Here in SoCal, whites are at a huge disadvantage. (Whites are also now a minority in California, being only about 40% of the population.) Here hispanics have a big advantage and blacks are about on par with whites. But if you want a university scholarship, you'd better be an Asian female.
This is really interesting. Look i feel as though if you have education regardless to what race you are you will succeed in this country. There are many people who are racist in the country and some of them you see on t.v everyday. theres people who get look down on in the country all the time and some being black, white, asian or whatever. Theres alot of black people i know that are uneducated. live in ghetto communites and run the streets, theres also alot of white people i know that are uneducated, do drugs, and live in beat down trailor homes. but theres also alot of rich black people that are very educated and alot of rich white people who are very educated. My point is theres people from every race who are just not the brightess people. Theres some white peole who call blacks dumb when theres millions of black smarter then them and vise versa. Im black with white and indian in me and im far from racist. I hate racisim and wish it would stop but will it? no we just have to deal with it. Actually because im half black i still get very offended when people make rasict comments but its motivates me to do well and very educated so that no one can put you down. Education is power and thats why im in sckool getting my bachelors degree in economics and then going to lae school to study law. So what all that said never let anyone put you down about your race just take it as motivation. White people do not own this country and nether do blacks, the american people run this country and that includes white, black, asian and son on. we all need each other for something wether you know it or not. So all you racist people get a life or leave the country because it will never be the way you want it. Sorry for all the babblin at the mouth.lol
Well the Gay equal rights and affirmative action laws have helped me to be a second class citizen; who pays first class taxes and cannot get married and live without fear of being dismembered and burned like the young Puerto Rican Man... Minorities will always have it bad. Don't be fooled by the token minorities that you see in positions of authority. Our society hasn't changed one bit. It is the same.

I just got done reading Booker T. Washington's autobiography Up From Slavery (mostly written over 100 years ago), and that's pretty much his message in a nutshell. He pulled himself up from nothing with hard work and as much learning as he could lay hold of, to become one of the foremost educators and motivators of his era. I think it would do us all good to study what he had to say, and try to emulate his methods.
Not really, and I'm black. I think my disadvantage is more financially related rather than any other variable, but I don't see race relations, or finances as a inhibitor to my potential and growth.
