A Saudi Arabian judge has told a seminar on domestic violence that it is okay for a man to slap his wife for lavish spending, a local newspaper reported yesterday.

Karzai said this weekend he would veto it. But he danced around the question for a quite awhile, so I don't think he really will. |

I watched him on meet the press as well, he seemed almost ashamed of the question being asked. I think his avoidance of it was out of embarrassment, which he stated he was. At the end he finally said in an answer to the question, "So in democratic Afghanistan it is illegal for a man to rape his wife?" In response he said, " Absolutely! Like hell.. Sure!" he even stated earlier that it was never in the law in the sharp wording that western media portrayed it( ie Rape their wives!). He then went on to say that if it was even mentioned in the softest of wording that it would be taken out. He went on to state that if a democratic Afghan people want something it will be represented. |
