Don't give up on Univeral Health Coverage. Now is the time to push your congressman or woman into action. The big four, AMA, Insurance, hospitals, and the pharms are fighting hard with both money and disinformation to try to lobby congress to prevent this. To get elected congress needs your votes. If the Democrats are not going to put Universal Health Coverage in Place, we may as well have Republicans in office. Make this the most important issue. Push hard!!!

Don't accept anything less than Universal single payer insurance. This is the plan that has worked in Europe. Under this system there can be individual health insurance, but that is not paid by the employers or the government. 99% of persons medical care will be paid by the government...taxes. The system cuts out all of the insurance companies (middleman profits), hospitals and doctors are government employees. All of the people who say it does not work simply don't know the facts, which is understandable because of the amount of misinformation and fear mongering done by the big four. It does work. The statistics tell the truth. Look up the actual numbers. Don't take my word for it. Do the research. Look at information from objective sources, which does not include persons representing the interests of the big four.

I know some people won't read the link below because it is from the daily Kos (liberal), but look up your own information if you don't like the source.

Yeah we are borrowing 50 cents for every dollar we spend and the projected deficit for this year is $1.8 trillion. Now is the time for the government To take over 16% of the economy!

No Thanks.

Now imagine you are a government bureaucrat running a government health care program. There is no incentive to buy more MRI machines, it's only going to cost the government more money. You would do everything you could to get by with what you have.

Yes, I have relatives that are doctors and they all think Universal Health Care sucks. One of my relatives who is radiologist in a small town in South Carolina brings in almost 900K a year. While it is true that most family Doctors don't make that, specialist bring home big cash. Under a Universal Plan Doctors would not make the kind of money that they are making now. Based on pay for Doctors in the UK they would be making around 200K.

Of course the argument will be that if they don't get paid big money then people will leave or choose other professions, which is why we must have so many european doctors in the U.S., wait...we actually don't! Under the Universal Plan Doctors would get paid less, but they would not have to pay for their medical education or have to pay for medical liability insurance. The big reason that the big four do not want it.... probably your friends in the Dr. community as well is cash....greed, plain and simple.

Please send more replys. I don't take it personal. I am just trying to get people to look at the facts.

One of the biggest drains on the economy is health costs. Just imagine what a big boost it would be to U.S. companies, especially small business if they were not saddled with the huge cost of providing health care coverage.

I don't agree that we should have bailed out the big banks. Again we had the same thing occur in the banking industry as we have in the health care industry. Big time lobbyist. They are getting the money.

The cost of providing Universal health care is actually cheaper than not providing Universal health care. I guess you did not read the link or did not investigate on your own. Please do one of the other.

The fact is if you limit what a person could make in a particular profession the best and brightest will chose another profession where their earning potential is unlimited. For example suppose teachers pay was unlimited do you think the caliber of people entering that profession would increase or decrease (before teacher advocates chime in I think our teachers are just fine, this is for illustrative purposes)? Do you think the competition would be keen?

Do you know what a huge boon to small business would be? Cut taxes!

I am a healthcare professional, I think I have better insight than a blogger on Daily Kos. Forget about the bailout the biggest contributor to the deficit is the $3.5 Trillion budget.
